Jeffrey David Kihn Ambient Temple of Imagination
In the imagination is the World's salvation.
About My Offerings
Jeff operates in a Zen-like flow in realms from web development to getting a crowd dancing - he's always a blast, always delivers. I would be dead without his help in creating Shift in Action.Director of Membership & Marketing, Institute of Noetic Sciences
Music has always been central to my appreciation of life and therefore my spiritual practice. My bandmate and I used to fantasize that, in the future, chemical drugs will be obsolete and instead, in order to 'trip,' one will simply hit Play on one's music-machine and it will produce a sound that has as powerful an effect on consciousness as any chemical. Through my spiritual practice, I have realized that the evolution of this technology is both external, through more advanced machines and more consciously-crafted music, and internal, through one's individual cultivation of sensitivity and openness in consciousness. I believe that music is a language that we use to describe and experience these states of consciousness that we desire, and is therefore an invaluable ally in practice. Music, consciously crafted or selected, can penetrate the shells of coldness and defense that can be the unfortunate side-effects of urban life.
My offerings include a variety of speeds and intensities: Space Music, Downtempo, IDM, and Progressive Breaks/Trance. Please visit http://www.ambienttempleofimagination.com/dj for a selection of downloadable demo mixes. I am delighted by the opportunity to share sounds from which I have received so much enjoyment and benefit!
My offerings as a jyotishi are still in development, and I am not yet taking formal appointments. My work is largely informed by interactions with my "explainer" Peter Brown, the jyotish insights of Barbara Pijan Lama, the non-fiction writings of Robert Anton Wilson, the work of David Deida.
My Background
Best known for ten years of production work with the Ambient Temple of Imagination, I also record esoteric electronica as Seofon, collaborate heavily within the Archipelago collective, and am involved in a variety of other experimental projects on the Foundry and Kimosciotic Communications labels.
Through the mid-to-late '80s I was a frequent chill-room producer and DJ at massive events in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My most recent project was an extensive collaboration with ambient/space music pioneers Steve Roach and Vidna Obmana, and I subsequently opened for Steve Roach on the Bay Area date of his All Is Now tour. I plan for my next project to be a collaboration with Ishq. For a complete and current discography, see http://www.discogs.com/artist/Seofon
