I was reading through the very first version of my first book a few days ago when I came across this little gem that for some reason did not make it into the heavily edited,and less scientifically-based, second version. (indeed the version that was eventually published was the third). In the chapter on time I suggested that the reader should:

I have recently returned from a holiday on the beautiful island of Sicily. After a week of travelling round the island I spent the second week relaxing in a place called Taormina.

I had been loaned a copy of a book entitled Mobius Dick by Andrew Crumey three or four months ago by a very active member of my blogsite. He insisted that I read it because it had many elements of my "Cheating The Ferryman" theory. I decided that I would wait until I was on holiday to do the book justice.

Another Radio Interview - Change of date and time

Further to my last posting - the City Talk Radio Interview will now take place a day later and at a slightly different time. Apparently the interviewer is so intrigued by my theory that he wants more time to read up on it and more time 'on-air' with me. The interview will now take place at 1400 on Wednesday 4th June.

Dr. Alan Roberts lectures on the implications of "Cheating The Ferryman"

Dr. Alan Roberts has placed a series of his lectures on YouTube. Dr. Roberts is involved with an organisation called ISHVAL - the Institute For The Study Of Hierological Values). ISHVAL was founded in 1966 by the philosopher Eugene Halliday. This organisation continues to keep alive the life-work of this fascinating thinker. Indeed Halliday's theories are of great interest to IONS luminary Dr. Christian De Quincey.

The picture opposite will be very familiar to those of you who have attended my lectures. For those of you who have not it may simply be an interesting image. We see an album cover by a 'Gangsta' rap band by the name of Coup. Clearly they like to be provocative and what better than to have the attack on the World Trade Centre on September 11th 2001 as a backdrop. Interesting but hardly amazing. However what if I told you that this cover was designed in May 2001 and was already viewable on the record company's website (75 Ark) in June of 2001!

Palingenesia

One of the less discussed aspects of "Cheating The Ferryman (CTF) is the idea that we all live our life over and over again in the final second of our first life - what members of my blog have termed "The Vigin Life". The Stoics called this endless repetition palingenesia. The word has its roots in Greek - 'palin-', again, '+ genesis', becoming, or rebirth. What I find particularly frustrating is how many dictionaries and web references state that this is another word for reincarnation. It clearly is not. The Stoics did not in any way believe in reincarnation as it is understood by most people - i.e. that after death a person is re-born as somebody else, or even a different life-form. No, they understood palingenesia to be exactly how I describe it in my first book - that we are all re-born as ourselves living our own lives again.

I received an email recently from Dr. Arthur Funkhouser of Berne in Switzerland. Art forwarded me an email that had been sent to him by a friend from Australia. Art wished to let me know the similarities between my theory of the Daemon-Eidolon Dyad and those of the great psycho-analyst Carl Gustav Jung. Jung uses the term Dioscuri. I have been long aware of Jung's writings but it was new to me exactly how similar to mine they are. Here an extended quote from his book "Concerning Rebirth" -

With regard to my theory one wonderfully emotional reference can be found in the great movie American Beauty. Although none of the science or neurology is referenced the ending is a simply wonderful visual, musical and verbal evocation of everything I suggest in ITLAD. This is yet again support to my suggestion that ITLAD is simply part of a wider cultural phenomenon engineered for some ulterior purpose by the weltgeist.

Last year a Buddhist monk travelled from Australia to meet me.

In a letter to me explained that he had found a copy of a paper I had published in the Journal of Near-Death Studies lying on the floor of a hut in his monastery in Western Australia (The Bodhinyana Monastery in Serpentine, WA). He knew as soon as he picked it up that it was of great importance. As with many Buddhist monks Ekaggata is a very well read individual with a great interest in particle physics and neurology. However he was particularly fascinated by my Daemon-Eidolon Dyad and my new approach to the concept of The Eternal Return (Reccurance). Strange Events

Something very strange happened a few days ago. Those of you who know me are aware that although I am very interested in psychic phenomenon I consider myself a strong rationalist. In other words I seek out proof before simply accepting the claims of others. Over the last year I have travelled the UK doing talks and lectures and I have met many fascinating people - many of whom have rather shaken my cosy, rationalistic, world view. However the last few days have been of earthquake proportions. For the first time in my life I experienced a precognition that I know was true - because it happened to me.

The quote above is taken from Friedrich Nietzsche's great work Also Sprach Zarathustra. In this he presents a philosophy that has become known as the The Three Metamorphoses. I suggest that this proverb is how Nietszche aviods the pitfalls of the eternal return as suggested in his famous 'Demon' quote from The Gay Science. You may will recall that this goes as follows:

In my "Cheating The Ferryman" theory (CTF)as described in my book "Is There Life After Death?" (ITLAD) I suggest that many of us are existing in the final moment of our life - existing within a self-generated dream sequence containing our whole life from the moment of our birth to the moment of our (approaching) death.
