Angeles Arrien on the Essential Shifts
Angeles Arrien’s most recent work focuses on the second half of life – the wisdom years. In this interview on our current social challenges, she sees the need to reweave the intergenerational fabric, bringing the creativity of youth back together with the wisdom of elders so that our culture is whole and therefore sustainable. High suicide rates reflect the lack of intergenerational connection. Elders are naturally aligned with questions of how we can leave a quality legacy, mentor new generations, and think long-term. They are attuned with nature’s rhythm of medium-to-slow and are naturally more surrendered to life’s ebbs and flows. She shares her hopeful perspective that we can create a new Renaissance as the newly retiring Boomer generation helps our culture through the rite of passage of maturation.
