Charles Tart

Tart directly addresses the prejudice that Western scientific culture has against mystical experiences, presenting both the hard scientific evidence for psi phenomena and the "scientistic" misconceptions that have caused the establishment to ignore the data.

I'm a big Tart fan, but I'm a little weary of messages that seem to equate Psi with spirituality. I'm sure Charles doesn't either, but there are so many other dimensions of spirituality. It's not enough to cite the validity of Psi phenomena as evidence of the human spirit, simply because it's one so easy to see, something that transcends the time-matter boundaries so saliently.

There's so much more to human spirituality.

I want to see spirit in the sense of 'spiritedness'. And I want to see material that reflects Consciousness as the underlying connecting thread for all the embodied dimensions of the human spirit, not just one of them.

I want to see Joy with a capital J to be known as part of spirituality. Truly, without Consciousness there would be no Joy as we know it, as a positive form of the life force within us. It's there all the time, but ignored because it's easy to conflate it with freedom from want, from grief, from insecurity, etc.

And there are so many other embodiments of the transcendental: transformation, illumination, unity, liberation, redemption, wholeness, peace, clarity, compassion (love), creativity, ecstasy, yes, just being high without grasping on it.

Let’s have some data for those too!
