Dean Radin on Entangled Minds
Things aren’t as separate as they seem. This notion, so intrinsic to quantum mechanics, holds that two particles can constitute a single quantum state that exists outside space and time, remaining connected long after their initial interaction without communicating in any conventional way. Albert Einstein called the phenomenon “spooky action at a distance.”
Unfortunate choice of words. Dean Radin has been battling the “spooky” label for much of his scientific career, as he endeavors to provide solid scientific theory and well substantiated evidence for psychic phenomena that are typically associated with the occult. In this keynote address at the 2005 IONS Conference, Dean discusses the characteristics of entanglement and explains how the whole universe may be a single, fully-entangled object. From this premise of universal connectivity he cogently explores how specific psychic phenomena (telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis) make fundamental sense, then offers compelling scientific evidence that proves their occurrence in thousands of laboratory tests subjected to the most rigorous experimental conditions. When objectively evaluating these results in accordance with standard scientific methodology, even skeptics are forced to conclude that there is no plausible alternative to the psi hypothesis – that psychic (psi) phenomenon exist. Nothing spooky about it, other than how this realization haunts our traditional assumptions about the nature of reality.
A fascinating highlight of this talk is Dean’s description of the Global Consciousness Project, in which a synchronized network of 70 random number generators is used to measure shifts in collective consciousness. The implications for monitored – and potentially focused – global consciousness are staggering.
