Great Shift Dialogues: Margaret Paloma Pavel and Carl Anthony
• Margaret Paloma Pavel bio
• Carl Anthony bio
How can our cities go through a great shift and become models of sustainability and social justice? In this dialogue, Carl Anthony, a senior fellow at UC Berkeley, talks with Dr. Margaret Paloma Pavel, founder of Earthhouse, about how we can make changes at the grassroots level across multiple sectors of society. They describe a situation in Detroit Michigan where primarily African-American inner city dwellers joined forces with the predominantly white suburbanites to form a coalition to create their own transportation plan. Another inspired story they share involved building multi-cultural urban leadership in Los Angeles in response to the expansion of the LA airport. Both Carl and Margaret offer an impassioned call for people of color to step into leadership and recognize that we all have something to contribute in this great shift.
