For offline listening, first download the audio files to your computer’s hard drive:
- Left-click on a
button and select "Save", or right-click on the button and select "Save Target As..." from the pop-up menu. - Save the linked MP3 file to a easy-to-remember location on your hard drive, such as your Desktop or your My Documents folder.
- Allow the file to finish downloading. This may take from 30 seconds with a high-speed connection to an hour with dialup.
You may then play the file from your computer by finding at at the location to which you saved it and double-clicking to open. Your computer's default MP3 application should automatically load and play the file.
We recommend iTunes for maintaining and playing your library of Shift in Action audios. The software may be downloaded from the Apple site - http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - and is available free for both Mac and PC.
In case you are not familiar with iTunes, here are some instructions for taking your files out of the computer:
To import into iTunes:
Under the "File" heading, click "Add file to library," then select the MP3 files on your hard drive that you downloaded from Shift in Action.
To burn a CD from iTunes:
First create a new playlist, then drag the recently imported music files into the playlist.
Make sure that you do not exceed 67 minutes of playtime – you can check that easily by looking at the bottom gray bar of iTunes while your playlist is highlighted. Add or delete files as needed. Note: Deleting file from a playlist does not remove them permanently from the iTunes library – just from the playlist.
Don't forget to insert a CD into the computer, then simply click the "Burn Disc" icon - which is the circle on the upper right. The CD will be playable in most CD players.
To use an iPod:
Attach your iPod to the computer, and sync it! (Under the file heading, click "Update iPod")
To use another MP3 player:
Follow the instructions that came with it – usually they come with their own software.
We hope that this helps! If you need more iTunes assistance, there is detailed support on the Apple site for iTunes users.
