Bradford Keeney teleseminar on "Shaking it Up with Ecstatic Shamanism"
Author, systems theorist and psychotherapist , Bradford Keeney, Ph.D. discusses ‘shaking medicine’ with host Tina Amorok. Dr. Kenney spent decades in 3rd and 4th world cultures with indigenous shamans exploring rhythm and movement healing practices. Genetic research shows that we all came from Africa, where rhythm is still practiced today as a way to connect to the spiritual sources. Many religious traditions included wild movement in their practices to celebrate being fully alive.
He encourages us to get in touch with our life energy, not through words or intellectual pursuits, but through ecstatic movement, surrendering ourselves to improvised shaking. If we feel constrained by practices that require us to sit still, we might want to try to ‘shake things up’ with movement, either in community or by ourselves in our own backyards.
