Craig Hamilton teleseminar on "Evolutionary Activism: Awakening to a Higher Calling"
Author and teacher Craig Hamilton talks with host Matthew Gilbert about personal and global transformation. As former Senior Editor of What is Enlightenment? Magazine; interviewer on New Dimensions Radio; founding member of Integral Institute; and participant in the Synthesis Dialogues with the Dalai Lama, Craig brings a broad insight to this discussion. He provides an historical context for the evolutionary path of humankind.
In our 40-50,000 year existence on this planet, even the ‘ancient’ spiritual traditions are relatively recent. The idea that our nature is constantly evolving and changing has only been discussed for a few hundred years. Craig tells us that we need to take it upon ourselves to start to evolve our own nature through the recognition of a larger context. Evolving includes taking a look at the patterns in our lives that we keep playing out and making changes which will most likely be uncomfortable. When our context is smaller we feel better, but we often stop short of our evolution if our only motivation is to stay out of suffering. Many of us have a compulsive need for control and security. One way to look at the personal evolutionary work is almost as a sacrifice to the future, the whole. As we evolve, we will have a passionate response to life. Deconstructing our tightly held beliefs, fueled by a burning desire to evolve and transform for the greater good, will have a positive effect on our personal and collective lives.
