Drew Dellinger teleseminar on Framing Our Cultural Story
Join spoken word artist and educator Drew Dellinger in this heartfelt and edgy dialogue on the role of cultural stories in shaping our worldview—particularly about race. Along with host Belvie Rooks, Dellinger explores the necessity to face the shadowy worlds of racism, sexism, and other –isms as we sculpt a new and positive cosmology founded on sustainability and justice. A special bonus in this dialogue is two spoken word poems performed by Dellinger. An excerpt: "It’s 3:23 in the morning and I'm awake because my great, great grandchildren won't let me sleep. My great, great grandchildren ask me in dreams…. What did you do once you knew?" The discussion ranges from the role of empirical science in creating a new story to the blindness of much of the environmental movement to questions of social equity and racism, all the way to a heartfelt discussion of the implications of Hurricane Katrina.
