Monica Sharma, the Director of Leadership and Capacity Development at the United Nations-OHRLLS, talks with host Marilyn Schlitz about her large scale work and the systems used to make sustainable changes in developing countries. As a physician, Dr. Sharma’s interests led her to HIV educational efforts and solution building. Her transformational work has affected over 130 million people in 40 different countries. She talks about many ways to enrolling key people to insure the success of the programs, which can be applied to any group endeavors. One example is that she has the group members identify the values they hold and then examine traditional or habitual behaviors, this process allows the group to see if their behaviors are supporting their values and if not, organic solutions can be discovered rather than imposed.
