Steven Vedro

In this teleseminar, the author of Digital Dharma, Steven Vedro, weaves together two worlds – communication technology and the evolution of consciousness. He takes listeners to the early days of the telegraph and the telephone, each of which changed society in powerful ways, ultimately encouraging women’s liberation, and then shows how the journey of emerging media parallels the emergence of new stages of collective consciousness. He illuminates the power of radio to consolidate power and the capacity of television to break down barriers on a heart level, as well as how the Internet can help people to find their authentic expression. Each of these parallels the traditional chakras. Finally he explores the leading edge with online games such as Second Life and collective entrainment that begin to transcend our personal identity. Drawing upon sources from Marshall McLuhan to Don Beck, Vedro offers a fascinating perspective on how our technology can both reflect and enhance our journey into higher stages of consciousness.

Thanks so much for enriching my life with the various IONS teleseminars. It would have been a pleasure to be able to hear Steven well. The ideas I could hear were provocative but his voice was so low lots was missed. I would think that someone handling the tech side would intervene in such cases to let the speaker know to project more. Thanks,

I sat in on this one, and must say, Vedro has made some profound associations between technology and psychospiritual development. I will be getting the book.
