In this series, author and founder of the Center for Partnership Studies, Riane Eisler, PhD, defines the domination system. She looks at Partnership vs Domination Systems, economics, balancing family and work, and gives a worldwide and historical perspective.

In the first segment, she defines what she calls the domination system inherent in all societies. It appears not only between men and women, but in all relationships including parental, racial, religious, and nature. In the domination system there are only two alternatives, to dominate or to be dominated. It is a system that has been unconsciously accepted for millennia by both men and women. But there is movement towards a partnership system, which could happen in one generation, despite the resistance to change, if we utilize the awakening consciousness.
