In this segment Van Jones discusses the “new apartheid” of the US prison system, where today the US imprisons a larger percentage, and a larger number of its black male population than apartheid South Africa. What does it mean to have categories that would allow a Nelson Mandela to be imprisoned for twenty-seven years, and to be considered by the majority of people during that time, to have been justly incarcerated?
