MY TEN COMMITMENTS (alternative to the 10 commandments) are . . .

1. TO BE HUMBLE IN THE PRESENCE of the omnipresent transcendent and inherent mystery and wonder in integral Nature. To consider humility a virtue as I experience the awesome mystery and wonder that abounds in our physical universe. Seek and enjoy experiences of timeless mystery and wonder that transcend, yet permeate, our physical universe.

2. TO CONTINUE IN CONSCIOUS ONENESS WITH OMNIMIND, OUR MYSTERIOUS TIMELESS OMNIPRESENT SOURCE. To continuously identify myself psychospiritually as a vital constituent of pure, transparent, transtemporal cosmic consciousness which I experience as the freest, most aware, centered, balanced, integrative, healthful, empathetic ‘place’ of cocreative self-managing. To disidentify with all temporal beliefs, values, intentions, attitudes, behaviors and possessions. Thus liberated from all temporal attachments, I freely own and include all those beliefs, etc. in my repertoire of choices without becoming attached, identified or addicted to any of them.

3. TO LOVE INTEGRAL LIFE. Remember that when I am living in love within healthful parameters I am in heaven wherever I am. Value as equally important the complementary opposite cocreative relationships of inherently feminine and masculine intelligent energies throughout Nature. Maintain an attitude toward living, aging, dying, and thereafter that reflects my empathy for all people and love for the environment in which we live. Live so as to be worthy of the love that others have for me, and do not betray their trust in word or deed.

4. TO RESPECT OTHERS. Respect the inherent healthful dignity and worth of every soul, including myself. Be worthy of the respect that others have for me. Approach life with a positive attitude, a kind word, and a healthful disposition. Remember never to intentionally engage in humor that is offensive or that shows disrespect for the inherent worth and dignity of each and every person irrespective of level of soul development, race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation or national origin.

5. TO AIM FOR HEALTHFUL EXCELLENCE. Attempt to accomplish every task, no matter how mundane or noble, with the highest level of quality possible within the healthful parameters described in "LATEST EDITION: My Integrally Conscious System for Healthful Living, Aging, Dying, and Thereafter -- A Checklist"* even if no one else will ever know.

6. TO HONOR MY COMMITMENTS. To keep my word, fulfill my promises. Avoid making commitments until and unless I am prepared to do what I say in a mutually empathetic and healthful manner.

7. TO SEEK AND CREATE HEALTHFUL HARMONY, BEAUTY AND HUMOR. Be receptive to new ideas and expressions of healthful harmonies and beauty in all forms. Refrain from defining them in absolute terms. Remember the harmonizing, beautifying and healing power of positive humor in everyday living and aging.

8. TO WORK FOR JUSTICE FOUNDED ON NATURE’S PRINCIPLES FOR OPTIMUM WELLBEING, namely, centering, interdependent dynamic balancing, and cycling within healthful parameters. Remembering justice is love in action, courageously speak out against injustice and take action as necessary. Remember justice usually will not happen by accident.

9. TO RELY UPON SCIENCE-BASED FACT-CHECKED EVIDENCE AND REASONING BLENDED WITH REALITY-CHECKED INTUITION. Use a blend of scientific methodology, logical deduction, and intuition to provide understanding of healthful, integral Nature, and live my life accordingly. When science and logic fail, remember there are aspects of reality not yet subject to scientific investigation . . . they can be experienced and known only through my biological senses, intuition, and reality-testing in the laboratory of my everyday life.

10. TO EXPAND CONSCIOUSNESS AND PROMOTE INTEGRAL HEALTH-BASED EDUCATION. Regard integral education in all life’s aspects -- cocreative self-management, spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, social, vocational, economic, familial, esthetic and biosystemic -- as a conscious life-long intention for myself and for those within my circle of influence. Remember that nature’s model of the integral conscious human includes these ten variables: timeless cosmic consciousness, personal and social conscious awareness, cocreative self-managing, conditioning, health, strength, full functioning, identity, personality and ecosystemic wellbeing.

P.S. As an integral natural scientist concentrating primarily on transformational applications of the integral human sciences I believe that all healthful spiritual-psycho-physical truth can be derived from the scientific and intuitive study of Nature -- both implicit and explicit. I perceive nature’s truth as timeless, unchanging, and stable in one way; and temporary, evolving, and dynamic in others. I view nature’s health-based truth as inherent in the timeless transtemporal, transpersonal, personal, and interpersonal dimensions of living, aging, biological dying and life after. For more on my view of nature's health-based truth see my article My One Mission? Mutual Integral Health Consciousness World-Wide at http://www.shiftinaction.com/node/3288.

Hello Bob,

I'm a new member here and saw your incredible list and had to say thank you. It instantly called me to it and before I knew it I was writing it down. What perfect sense it makes! There has been this very empty place inside me probably for years on end but I started noticing it and feeling a void within the past 2 years. I'm looking forward to learning more and more and getting to know some of the people here.

Take care, my heart and soul thank you,
Nancy

Bob,
I really appreciate your list of commitments, and would be most pleased if I could not only list your commitments as part of my own commitments, but could actually keep them.

However, I (raised as a person of faith) would like to know if you have any beliefs in the reported author of the original ten commandments or if you have dismissed that as myth or folklore.

Again, your list is great, and would certainly improve the state of this planet if adopted by humanity.

My best,
Roger McGinnis

Hello Roger ~

Thank you for your kind comments.

By all means, feel free to copy my commitments and use as you wish.

I too was raised to be a person of faith in the authenticity of the Judeo-Christian Bible. It was in theological school where in a course on Christian Apologetics, ironically, I discovered (on my own) to my dismay and disillusionment that the Bible, including issuance of the ten commandments, is based on myth.

In an attempt to empathize with the writers , however, I must say I believe they did the best they could with the resources available to them at that time. Had they had the scientific evidence we have available to us today they very well could have come up with a more valid and reliable compendium of knowledge and wisdom.

Having said that, I continue to believe that people have the right to choose to believe as they want as long they don't infringe on the integral health-based rights of others who have different belief systems.

In the event you are interested, I have discussed my discoveries in greater detail in another SIA blog titled Some Notes About Why I Transcended Christianity http://www.shiftinaction.com/node/5679.

Again, Roger, thank you for your interest and comments.

Warm regards,

Bob

Thank you so much for these words. I have printed them out so that I can carry them with me to look at when away from the site.

I am a new member here and just finding my way around the website. There is so much here to absorb and I am grateful for the opportunity.
