My New Year's Resolutions for 2007

My New Year’s Intention is a Resolution of Inner Conflict

Tana and I worked for twelve hours to prepare for our New Year’s ritual. By the time we were sitting in front of the fire, the clutter was gone from most of our home. We had set aside a few momentos to burn as we released energy from the past that no longer served our highest good.

I cast a circle of banishment with my athame (a ritual knife). A circle of banishment in the Northern hemisphere is cast counterclockwise (or widdershins), which is opposite to the spin of the earth.

Then Tana and I each invoked energies that we work with. Tana’s pantheon for this evening included Obatala, Oshun, Inanna, and Bridget. Mine included Bridget, Horus, and Helios. The reasons for my choices are that Bridget married us (Click to read.), I channeled Horus at our handfasting, and I’m a priest of Helios in a two-year Eleusinian Mysteries Cycle.

We meditated, and Tana channeled and toned with her voice to clear the energy in our sacred space. She had many objects to burn, and I had none. She also had many things to write on cards for burning, and I had only one--and writing it or releasing it wasn't as powerful as I had hoped. While these things burned, I stirred the cone of energy widdershins with my wand, increased its intensity with my breath and intention, and finally allowed it to disperse into the universe, taking with it the energies that we had each released.

Then Helios taught me the most important thing that I needed to release. I wrote on a card, “I choose to release my attachment to the shape of the unfolding of the Global Wisdom System and other projects.”

As I burned this card, I realized that keeping this resolution would give me freedom to follow my heart, my passion, and my guidance, because none of these things—following my heart, my passion, or my guidance—had anything whatsoever to do with the shape of the outcome.

So my 2007 New Year's Intention is that I will be nonattached to the shape of how my projects unfold, as I continue to creatively invoke the future evolution of the planet. I have an audacious goal, and I understand that this is why it is wisest to be nonattached to the shape of this unfolding. Thus, nonattachment gives me freedom and personal power.

This is an issue I had been dealing with. (Read Paradox Is a Door to Deeper Understanding.) However, when I wrote that blog, it was an insight. Tonight, it became an intention, because I was immediately able to translate this insight into specific actions that would help keep it current for me.

I have an affirmation practice that I combine with EFT to defang the emotional reasons for not changing. I’ve already written the first EFT Choice Affirmation to express my intention of nonattachment, and I’m already using it.

In addition, I have created a little trance sequence to add to one of my current routines.

EFT Choice Affirmations and autohypnosis are already part of my ongoing current practice. Since I will be using both the Choice Affirmation and the trance routine periodically for the next few months, I know that I will also journal about it, use it as the subject of a Core Message Contemplation, and do many other things that will prevent it from being a lifeless platitude.

EFT Choice Affirmations include a statement of the negative condition so that you can defang your energy around it. So my Choice Affirmation was: "Even though I feel great concern about whether I’m doing the right thing to create the Global Wisdom System and other projects, I choose to release all attachment to the shape of the unfolding of these projects, so that I can act from my heart and my guidance without attachment to the outcome of any actions."

My preexisting trance routine is similar in part to the the Circles of Light Invocation. The new trance sequence projects the last frame of this animation (in which the entire planet is filled with light) onto a fabric which always unfolds in an unusual manner and which always has something that's unpredictable folded inside of it.

I was unable to link up with Paradox is a door but I would like to read it. Thank you for such an inspirational blog.

Hi, Linda,

The link didn't work because I pasted the wrong quotation mark into the blog. I've fixed it now, and included a redundant link. Thanks for letting me know.

MS Word automatically substitutes angled quotation marks, rather than ASCII quotation marks, and when I put the link into the blog, I have to make sure that I go through and make sure that I have fixed them all. I'm developing a better way of cutting and pasting links, since my material is all connected together. You'll generally find links to related blogs in every one of my blogs. If you find any other broken links, please let me know at globalwisdom (at) sbcglobal.net.

Thanks
