Congratulations on your healing success! As a practicing nurse for the the past 28 years, I would tell you that perhaps your thyroid imbalance was minimal. In the case of potential hyperthyroidism, the progressive degeneration of aging could have achieved a balance of your thyroid hormone.

However having a master's degree in nursing specializing in integrative health (obtaining a PhD in Health Psychology), I would have to point towards an energetic origin for your healing. My research interest is how our fear-based thoughts and belief systems manifest in specific dis-ease.

In your case, the thyroid is innervated by the throat chakra (the 5th vortex of our energetic circulatory system running parallel to our spine). The throat chakra is affiliated with communication in many forms. Have you struggled with expressing yourself? Have you had issues in believing that you were being heard? I take thyroid replacement medicine and want to find a natural way to balance this gland. What was your dosage? How did you know you could quit it and still be fine? What did you do or think/feel to make this change occur, if anything?
