A Cosmic Symphony of Thought? Egads Mr. Carson ... where in Heavens name have you gone off to now?

So if you are no longer in the Grand Canyon with the lost Tribe ... where are off to now?

On Consciousness (Latin <= With + Knowing)
Years ago I played the trumpet however I could never excel at reading those tiny little notes very well, especially the ones with lots of tad pole tails on there ends. However I always got the highest ratings at state competitions yet continued to sit in second section in band. If I could hear it and feel it, I could play it.

I suppose that’s a lot like Jazz, either you can enter the “Zone’s Groove” where time stops as music plays through you or you can’t. Notes and music are like that, the former is a map while the latter is an experience. Some things are like that, they just seem to be on or off the mark. Ya just know it when ya feel it. So as notes can lead to music ... words can lead to amusing musings. But not if they are out of timing or out of tune.

Words are often times like that. The word “consciousness” does that to me. And like music, it’s not the note or word that doesn’t work; it’s where they are not showcased within the piece that prevents the resonant harmonics from singing true to its tune. The feeling is gone, missing, and kaput. And in its place - ringing out horrendously loud with out an ounce of embarrassment - clangs a solo in horrible resonant discord. I strongly suspect that if you have an ear for Jazz you also are very sensitive to the misuse and misplacement of words, like “consciousness.”

It’s not just that the words consciousness, intelligence or awareness don’t sound right; its not just that they don’t feel right. It’s that there is an inner knowing that says “For Gods sake Stop! This is horrible. Enough with the peddles, snare and high hat rattle. Let’s let silence usher in the next movement … and then allow the deep base to sneak in quietly and then slowly lead the way to the next movement.

For me, that is precisely what happens when ever I read how the word “consciousness” is used in a sentence. It is like having to grind you teeth while a single and out of tune flute ... drowns out an entire trumpet section while playing a march by John Phillips Sousa. It just doesn’t work. The misplacement of that word absolutely grinds, erupts and plays contrary to my inner sense of resonant placement and internal peace.

So, instead of dragging this issue out any further with additional left brain blather, I will just attempt to clarify what I am thinking, feeling and “dying in” through the muse of metaphor.

* Awareness - is the ability to see the dots.

* Curiosity - is wanting to see the dots.

* Courage - is having or being "of the heart" to leave the safe and known zone to seek out and find those damn dots.

* Intelligence - is the ability to create the maps by connect the dots.

* Consciousness - is exactly what Latin tells us it is, i.e. "With Knowing" ... consciousness is a three tiered library (i) conscious, ii) subconscious and iii) super consciousness) where all dotted maps of knowing are stored.

* Intuition - is knowing how to gain entry into and insight from the cosmic meta libraries that already exists.

  • Potential - is a time-less, space-less landscape, i.e. the multidimensional canvas overlay where the Zero Point Field of all quantum realities awaits to seed infinite crops of realities.

That having been self-declared … (oh my … the power of this person's ego ;-) ) the questions that still inspire my wandering curiosity are:

“What is the universal "medium" ... the cosmic "ocean" ... the "unified field" ... within which all 4 forces (and perhaps a few others) of energy fields operate?” Are the super string forces a manifestation of the Awareness field? Could all that will ever be ... be contained with "Unified Field of Awareness" (UFA) ... The Matriarch's Meta Matrix of All?

Socrates rarely provided answers ... and was rewarded with Hemlock. People just don’t want questions with out answers. Its drives most mad or insane. For me - and from my OBE experiences - I am betting that i) Time-Space and the ii) Cosmic Energy of Awareness - and all of Her "Rarefacted Sub-Energy Prodigies" - are Primal and thus Meta Core to everything else we will ever discover.

Post Script:

The other night I had one of those really weird and out of this world dreams … or should I call it an experience? You know what I mean. We have all had them. It’s just that only old farts like me are willing to admit them in public. Anyway, the experientially “infused factoid” came to me that I ... had just had a “Pre-Cog” moment.

“A what?” you may ask. And again I would say, “Yes … I had a “Pre-Cog” moment!”

A “Pre-Cog moment” was when I realized someone else was thinking ‘my’ thoughts before me. So I ask you all - youthful cowards included - “Are we all swimming in a "Cosmic Symphony of Pre-Cog Thought?” Stomach that one for a while if you can. :-) :-) :-)

An amusing question isn’t it? And as Dr. Garry Schwartz and his professorial mentor's would say … amusing questions are the only ones worth our time.

Have a Great Thanksgiving.

Lawrence of Mayhem.

Wonder
Lawrence,
I don't know what happened to your job. You might have posted that somewhere, and I didn't see it. Maybe you left of your own "accord". Maybe not. Both my husband and I were "let go" from our separate jobs over the past year. On a bumpy road, full of potholes that threatened to become sinkholes, we went speeding to better places. Transition is difficult and everpresent it seems. I wish you the best. You will find it.

Now there is a question that in many ways can have not only multiple, varied and valid answers but can also be altered just a bit to ask some really remarkable questions, i.e. "Did I have a belief about "XYZ" or did it have me?" ... "Do I have a consciousness or does it have me?" ... Am I riding a dead horse or is the dead horse riding me?", etc. etc. etc.

The Negative Effects of Western Culture
Pragmatically speaking, the three simultaneous positions I held while working for/with the Havasupai Tribe were fantastic. I was able to get very close with some of the most wonderful and spiritually humble people I have ever met in my life and I am reflecting upon the 24 month contract I had with the American Samoan people during 1984-86. They too were some really wonderful people. And while there my wife and I were able to personally dine with the "confidant" that protected Margarette Mead when she lived there writing her book "Coming of Age ..."

For the last 18 months while acting together as the business Board of Directors (that I served as Treasurer for) and acting as their CEO/General Manager, we were able to improve the tourist sales by over $1,150,000; increase profits by over 540%, slash balance sheet debt by 24.4%; rebuild the trading post, partially restore the cafe, renovate the lodge, etc., etc. etc.

Then as the Director of Finance/CFO for the Tribe (Tribal Council) over the past 30 some months were able to improve the overall economic viability by increasing jobs by 43% (Enterprise alone by 57%); and increasing their flow of funds ( simplistic m-1) by $2,216,000. So if economic strength and stability is a valued vision for the future of their children ... together we created some fantastic opportunities.

I have a fantastic support group in Supai as well as their outside consultants, CPA's, law firm, etc. that have all written absolutely wonderful letters of reference. And within four weeks of my being asked to leave by the current political regime ( I have survived 2 & 3/4 different political Councils) I have been asked to submit my qualification to both the Hopi Tribe and another tribe West of Flagstaff. So the universe does seem to care.

Now why am I sounding like a huge ego ape by pounding my chest on all the wonderful things that have been accomplished? Well ... politics is not as simple and straight forward as one might first think. It is a very, very complex "System of Dynamic Human Variables" i.e. an evolving culture within a culture that Supai is no stranger to. Its just that being deeply immersed within a remote culture of only 350 people comprised of approximately 5 major families that never forget who did what to who and when … has been a tremendous eye opener to me. I now believe I can see and understand a lot more of the hidden variables, forces and agendas playing out on the card tables of Washington D.C. I now think I understand a lot more about Carl Jung’s living “Archetypes” and how those archetypes play themselves out in the motives and behaviors of man-kind and man-cruel … no matter what his religious, ethnic, or cultural background.

I don’t wish to bore you with details that I have lived but here is a very thin slice of the tip of the iceberg as to how an archetype can motivate a man into a seemingly altruistic and benevolent service … when in fact it is diminishing the sense of dignity of those being served.

The Villain, Victim and Hero Archetype
For a hero to emerge with sword and shield and emerge as the Knight ... to save the day through an assumed spiritual calling ... the “to be hero” must first find a crying victim or community of village victims that, for one or more “reasons” can not or will not defend themselves from the atrocities of life, unfortunate circumstances or … yes “The Villain.”

And once the “Villain” has been identified, the would be Hero/Knight now has his (or her) calling set in destiny of Divinity.

The Knight first addresses the victim with empathy (oh poor you) … finds a suitable shield, sword and black steed of a horse … seeks the initial blessing preferably from the Queen, perhaps the King and then while resting his bended knees on soil of Mother Earth ... from the God of the Universe. Then and only then is he equipped with divine blessings and purpose to ride off into the land of the unknown where all Villains retreat from their last battlefield of carnage.

The hunt comes to a daunting halt as both Hero and Villain battle with cunning wit, tenacity and heart of passion until the spiritually righteous Knight emerges as victor. Now mind you … the Knight has not yet achieved his title of rights as hero. He can not self hero himself lest he become as his slain Villain. So off he rides to join up once again with the Victim who graciously expresses adorations, kindness and heart felt appreciation. The Knight has finally received the energy of life eternal … appreciation from the Victim. The Victim is safe and the Hero is Saved.

And so to publicly formalize his endeavors, knighthood and be acknowledged by all villagers far and wide for his deeds of self sacrifice and courage ... he surely can’t self proclaim his Knighthood. For that he needs someone of higher rank and file. For that he would need to find someone that is now in debt to the Hero and who better is there than the Queen reliant upon the Knight’s strength and bravery. And absent the Queen, the King would make a great procurator, a publicist … a politician … pronouncing to village and world that the Hero be granted the title of Knighthood. And it is thus inferred by all in the land of the saved ... that the Knight is not only proclaimed Hero of the Realm by earthly Royalty ... but also possibly a Saint by Divine Declaration ... via the earthly tongue of the King.

And here is the irony. This ancient myth surrounding the earliest archetypical stories and legends of how to make one’s life matter and meaningful ... so they may enter the Hallowed Halls of the Divine ... is all based upon some very simple assumptions, namely:

1 - The Victim is disabled and thus “needs” someone else to protect and/or save them from Villain’s next attack. Someone needs to judge someone else as a weak, incapable invalid fatality.

2 - Some bystander - who is desperately seeking purpose and meaning in life so s/he can self honor his/her spirit, soul, image and perhaps his/her parents - becomes codependent to an outside benevolent source providing him/her with the accolades, acknowledgment and appreciation that his/her higher self has yet to offer to him/her-self. S/He is not yet “at source” of his/her eternal state of being perfect just as s/he is.

3 - Political manipulators of societies well understand how to set up the … squirrel cage institutions of bondage… through the ploys of archetypical cults. (Villain, Victim, Knight and Hero Proclamation Authorities, i.e. Queens, Kings, and man made gods) And they typically employ these cunning mechanisms to increase their own political craft, aims and treasury.

LESSONS LEARNED
Would be heroes - who go after Villains (problems) that are doing the King’s secret bidding (are secretly benefiting the King) - will never see the Metal of Knighthood, or the sun’s awakening of the next day.

To become both the Villain and Victim of the King all a “would be hero” needs to do is to:
- Subdue the “Servant Villain” that is silently serving the King under the cloak of darkness.
- Unknowingly performing hero’s role that the King desperately wants but is unable to perform.
- Raise public awareness regarding the standards of leadership for passion, ethics, discipline and accomplishments.
- Knowingly or unknowingly raise the attention, appreciation and accolades that otherwise belonged to “The King.”

LESSONS LEARNED IN SUPAI
When the King that hired you passes on … do the same

Never get on a black or white horse … they belong to the Royal Family

Make sure you know all the Kings horses and all the Kings men (servants)

Don’t look for damsels in distress; they need you like you need a hole in the head

Don’t inhale approval, appreciation or accolades from others.

Think seriously about why the Lone Ranger wore a mask.

Love and learn common horse sense from the “Little People”

Know when the horse you are riding is dead and dismount.

Common Horse Sense lost its way a long time ago. Years ago the Native Americans instinctively knew that "When you discover you are riding a dead horse the best strategy is to dismount.” That was then.

I was never taught those things. What I WAS taught to do … when facing such horse-foolery, (H.S.) was to try:

+ Using a stronger whip.

+ Appointing a committee to study the horse.

+ Arranging a visit other dude ranches and countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.

+ Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.

+ Swearing real loud in the horse’s ear to determine if the horse is hearing-impaired.

+ Reclassifying the dead horse as living-impaired.

+ Talking with the horse’s parents and place the horse into the “No Horse Left Behind” program.

+ Hiring a consultant to ride and assess the dead horse to determine if a needs assessment plan is needed.

+ Finding out if the dead horse previously ran for a political office.

+ Harnessing several dead horses together to increase their collective enthusiasm and canyon trail speed.

+ Applying for additional federal funding and/or training to increase the dead horse's performance.

+ Hiring a consultant to do a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve performance.

+ Declaring that since dead horses rarely eat they cost less, exact a lower overhead burden, and therefore contribute substantially more to the bottom line of the local economy than other more enthusiastic and animated horses.

+ Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.

+ Punishing “Both” the rider and horse by assigning them to the garbage hauling detail.

+ Realizing that its not a dead horse but a slow bull pretending to be a dead horse by examining its bio-waste.

+ Hiring the BIA cops to strictly enforce midnight curfews for all gallivanting horses.

+ Denying that the horse is dead, but merely really sleepy and blame the BIA for not enforcing curfew laws.

+ Promoting the dead horse to a management position to assess the rider’s negative attitude.

+ Allowing the horse to run for “Council” so it can reverse the previous administration’s dead horse policy.

“So what did you learn the last three years in Supai dad?”

"Three things son, three things.
* How Washington D.C. really works ...
* Who it was that taught them ...
and ...
* How to ride a dead horse"

Plus, you are really funny.

Submitted by Lawrence Carson on November 24, 2007 - 3:43pm.

Thanks ... I appreciate that.

Twas like I told my poor wife the other day about a sort of dream ... while starting to wake up ... where I had a Pre-Cog moment. "A what?" she said with a smile. A "Pre-Cog" moment. I Said.

"What in Gods name is that?"

"Well its simple ... its when ya recognize that somewhere else ... someone else ... is thinking your thoughts before you ... and you then realize that its been happening for a long, long time in your life ... but ya just now get it. :-) Thinking in systemic tandemness (like riding a tandem bicycle for two) sort of washes the illusionary boarders away that use to have us thinking we are all separate, disconnected experiments of egos gone amuck. :-)

So once (if) that happens ... and settles in for a week or so ... There Ain't Too Much that seems So Serious Anymore ... And Humor just sort of takes its place - front stage - with embarrassment never again to rear its head.

But ... never my words for truth ... they seem to be true to me for now ... until I just go off and venture into another "mine field" ... and get lost therein ... just for the a"muse"ment of it all.

:-)

So its not me thats funny ... its what we all are ... when we all wake up the "The Play". ("All the worlds a play and ....")

Wonder

Well, Larwence, it all makes sense to me. I've ridden many a dead horse, tried to make one work, even drink water. When do you give up?
When do you "let go"? I worked in the Cherokee Schools for 4 years as an Educational Interventionist. I truly enjoyed home visits because I could meet elders who had not been touched by our present way of life. There was a solidness in them that was much like my grandfather's. A knowing, a simple knowing of who one was without needing bells, whistles, praises and so on. Consciousness, that word, was not needed, nor useful with the elders nor my grandfather. My grandfather would have laughed at the word. Yet, he was the most giving, fluid and spiritual person I have ever known. He worked hard, and frequently fell asleep in his rocking chair. The Cherokee Elders and my grandfather just "knew". That's all. That simple.

Now how did we get from there to riding dead horses? How did we get from there to thinking that our lives could only be meaningful if we "helped" someone else. I still have that problem. My grandfather helped many, but that was just what he did. He wasn't on the look-out for it. He "helped" us walk in creeks, fish and eat steak with a pocket knife. His helping was just part of him. Whatever he owned was ours as well. He was part of us, and we were part of him.

Then came discord, the musical notes flew off key. Life got jangled up in becoming, instead of being. In striving to be better, instead of being. In wanting to be the best, instead of just being some kind of fluid solidity.

When the person in Cherokee who hired me left, I should have gotten off the horse. Didn't do it. I fell off that horse into a political mire that I still don't understand. My grandfather wouldn't bother to think about it all that much. For him, it would have been a waste of time. I wish I were more like my grandfather.

I hope you and your family enjoyed Thanksgiving.
Blessings,
Barbara

Your words ring so ... so ... so deeply true to me ... now that I have "been there" ... "lived there" ... "integrated and became there".

You said ... "When the person in Cherokee who hired me left, I should have gotten off the horse. Didn't do it. I fell off that horse into a political mire that I still don't understand." Precisely. That is to some extent precisely where I still am. I know that my body has integrated the total experience yet still can not define nor connect all the dots. I have not been able to consciously construct an "Experiential Map" of the Experience ... but I definitely do have the Experience ... I have integrated "The Territory". Maybe that is what your Grandfather knew. There are some things in life are better left "Just Known" ... and not "Understood" ... i.e. I am that slice of the Territory and don't want to diffuse, reduce, render it down to a two dimensional map. The real thing has a lot more to offer. So Larry ... forget trying to understand the entire mental, emotional, physical, social, psychic and spiritual thing ... and just trust that if and when the future situation calls for it ... these implicit, multi dimensional ... cellular-spiritual memmories will ring forth with a musical ring of wisdom. That is what the elders in the Canyon have ... that is what you Grand Father and the Elders at your Tribe had ... The innate wisdom of truth with out understanding. (perhaps)

So while our left brain's culturally programmed linear processes of being Aware--> Reflect-->Respond--> Result--> Aware--> Reflect--> Respond--> Result ... may have us confused and stuck in a circular, closed systemic, non evolving state ...

We instead can go meta to our old minds and evolve to the higher mind processing functions Noticing --> Experiencing --> Integrating and --> Transcending ... what our left brains has kept us busy. The Meta Mind Us ... thinking about the micro mind us ... that we used to be.

:-)

Thanks very much for sharing. At least I now know that there are two of us confused about recognizing ... and getting off those "Dead Horses."

"Are we all swimming in a "Cosmic Symphony of Pre-Cog Thought?"
It's the Pre/Post distinction that makes me queasy, Lord Mayhem.
I keep running up on the shoal of intuition that linear time is artifactual, cognitive detritus of metamorphosis.
Yes, to Cosmic Symphony, and syncronous Cosmic Jazz, Cosmic Punk, Cosmic Reggae, Cosmic Rap, ad infinitum.

I just noticed a posting by Roland G on November 21, 2007 ... who said

"Dear Brother Nahu,

thanks for the Posting! Before we can use a new way of thinking
we have to let go - that is the way... If we want to change we have
to let go our concepts and understanding how we perceive the world... After all it will rise a new way of how we look at things and how we experience life...

FOURTEEN

Look, it cannot be seen-it is beyond form.
Listen, it cannot be heard-it is beyond sound.
Grasp, it cannot be held-it is intangible.
These three are indefinable;
Therefore they are joined in one.
From above it is not bright;
From below it is not dark:
An unbroken thread beyond description.
it returns to nothingness.
The form of the formless,
The image of the imageless,
It is called indefinable and beyond imagination.
Stand before it and there is no beginning.
Follow it and there is no end.
Stay with the ancient Tao,
Move with the present.
Knowing the ancient beginning is the essence of Tao.

To attain Knowledge, add things every day.
To attain Wisdom, remove things every day.

If you note within the poem Namaste Roland posted above ... inherent within the poem there is no thing except for one ... Awareness of what it isn't. I was there during an OBE just as as many who meditate have been. Its just pure Awareness of Pure Awareness... like a Zero Point Field of infinite possibilities ... silence is golden!
