Having grown up poor and spiritually deprived in communist Romania, IONS Circle member Mariana Bozesan emigrated to Germany and in the late 1970s embarked on her journey in the human potential movement. She experienced a series of spiritual emergencies that completely altered her life and significantly expanded her consciousness. In the late 1980s, when she learned about astronaut Edgar Mitchell’s life-transforming journey, she recognized parallels to her own transformation and became interested in Institute of Noetic Sciences. To this day her life’s work is closely aligned with the work and mission of IONS.

A trained computer scientist and mathematician, Mariana left a successful high-tech corporate career in 1995, turning toward what had more heart and meaning. While working as a serial entrepreneur and venture capitalist, she began to see that individual dissatisfaction with the business world was a mega trend. Awareness of the separation between the soul and the material world of business was growing, yet there was little infrastructure to support change in this area. With insights from having lived through this herself, Mariana developed the Consciousness Leadership model, which is based on Ken Wilber’s AQAL (All Quadrants All Levels).

Her Consciousness Leadership model empowers leaders in business who, through their own accelerated personal growth and their ability to align individual goals with global collective goals, have the capability to lead people to a more evolved worldview. The model advocates ecologically sustainable human development and socially responsible business practices, as well as conscious capitalism that bridges personal fulfillment with global sustainability. It is a process whereby leaders engage in consciously integrating and transcending all personal and professional aspects of self, culture, and society—leading mindfully and with heightened awareness at all levels: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

The first component of her Consciousness Leadership model addresses the physical body. Using weight loss as a Trojan horse for creating integral health and well-being, Mariana wrote Diet for a New Life – An 8 Step Integral Solution to Weightloss and Well-being and also developed a six-month online program for permanent weight loss, health, and vitality. Diet for a New Life is an integral, holistic, and compassionate book about losing weight and gaining life. It presents a path for achieving sustainable weight loss, health, and vitality through personal commitment to oneself, to life, to self-love, and to sustainability.

Along with continuing as a social entrepreneur, business investor, and inspirational speaker, Mariana is currently enrolled in a PhD Program at the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, California. A philanthropist and humanitarian at heart, she has served on the board for many organizations promoting social and spiritual well-being. She is also the founder and president of the Bozesan Foundation, which contributes to the education of young people in Africa, China, India, and in former communist countries. Mariana lives in a three-generation household with her husband, son, parents, and pets in the San Francisco Bay area, and in Bavaria, Germany.

We at the Institute of Noetic Sciences appreciate the work of Mariana Bozesan, and of all our members, who use their talents to promote living and working more consciously.
