Maybe you’ve heard people talk about Maharaji … maybe not. Maybe you heard his birth name, Prem Rawat. I like to talk about what I’m learning through his teachings because they bring me a valuable realization. On a social scale, any shift in action begins with a shift in people’s intention. A social shift in intention begins with a change in the direction of individuals. Maharaji teachings guide me to experiences that are very individual -- internal, private, even intimate. I realize who I am and what I’m holding.

I learn about the basis of my life -- learning through feelings and direct touch, not second-hand. Like I can feel the breath and heartbeat that animate me, I’ve been taught to feel deep within me, even deeper than my usual thoughts and feelings. I find that I’m standing on a solid and peaceful beauty. This experience is right inside, like my breath is, but is not for me alone, like my thoughts are.

I like the word Discovery. It’s like looking down and seeing the ground underneath my feet, which has always been there. I discover a foundation that is simple, clear, and obvious. This beauty is what I want to build my life on, and this discovery gives me a seed to start with.

Maharaji talks about the profundity of life itself and shows techniques that enable one to feel life itself. He calls these techniques Knowledge. Normally we see the motions of life and feel the movements in our bodies. For me, Knowledge is a pointer towards a direction inside and I find there more than motion in my body. I find a pristine clarity that I can hold like a valuable gem.

I want to tell everyone because some people might be looking for something like this. I was definitely looking when I first heard. These teachings have become a major part of my life by giving me a handle on the feeling I want. This experience is now obvious and clear, and fits right in with what we talk about here.
