Family Impact
Riane Eisler 's personal experience as a child, watching her father being taken away by the Nazis and witnessing her mother's spiritual courage to get him back, led her to recognize the impact of unconscious values instilled during childhood. She and other scholars have examined the traditionally strict domination in many families as a possible cause for the support of a leader, such as Hitler. But domination in a family doesn't have to be dramatic to have an impact. Riane describes her first marriage in which domination took the seemingly innocuous form of insisting her children be quiet when their father came home.
