This is being blogged on July 23, 2008 and in a few days will not be relevant. My dear and lovely new friend is on Padre Island and the news is claiming that a 95 mile an hour hurricane is headed for the island and will hit at noon today. Michelle, the weather looks fierce and my hopes and prayers are with you. I hope I am mistaken as to your whereabouts. If I am right about the location, I hope you left the Island as they are now saying it is impossible to get to the mainland until the winds subside to 45 miles per hour. Michelle Casto is a blogger on "Declare".
Michelle, my prayers are with all those who are now in harms way, but my thoughts are focused on you most lovingly. Does anyone know any more about this serious situation?

As always,
Jane

Oh, and I do not know how I forgot to mention this....but we have experienced fairly intense rain and wind all day long, and much of last night.

We also did take basic precautions....and some neighbors did board up, I believe every responds to these situations differently, as there are even some "hurricane parties." Now, I can tell you there would be no celebrating if Dolly had come to town, and we had to leave, but we we would all be thanking our lucky stars that our home was intact upon return.

The best you can do is be prepared...have a hurricane box full of photos, important papers, etc. I would grab my two doxies, Briosa and Bosko and would be heading for the high country, if the story were different. thank Goodness for us it is just wind and rain, now let's pray for every one else.

Namaste Mary Jane, Barbara and all reading...

We are well here...I live in North Padre Island, which is Corpus Christi, about 2.5 hours from San Antonio, in what is known as Tropical Texas. South Padre Island (though the same island, Padre Island) is south near Brownsville.

Interestingly enough.... Corpus Christi means the body of Christ, and yes, our area is "due" for a hurricane, the last one was Celia, which I personally know people who lived through...a grown man who is an attorney now told me about how he (he was just 7) and his family hid in a tiny shack weathering the storm.
When Rita hit..which is the only time I have evacuated in 6 years, he was the first one out of town! I am glad to report I have not personally witnessed devastation and trauma, and hope I never have to in this lifetime.

It seems this time of the new earth brings with it "scary storms." Fear has a funny way of alerting people and shaking them from their trance, and even brings people together. How quickly does the help go away after the storm, though?

My intention is to shine light and faith on our dear mother earth, pray for peace/healing, and the awakening of our souls so we can SHIFT To Heaven on Earth and live like the divine humans that we are.

Much appreciation to all blessed hearts out there sending our mother light!

I am very grateful to hear that she is out of harms way. Michelle, if you read this comment, I was sincerely hopeful that the Highest Power would have you in a safe place. I had a lot of trouble posting this on declare. Now that you are safe, I am going to concentrate on those people facing great odds in extreme weather conditions. If only IONS could truly focus the group consciousness of their entire body of members on a miracle of relief of human suffering in this crises. I truly believe the earth is waiting for this healing energy. I, for one, am praying for the people and for the land they hold so dear. I am only one, but I feel joined with all of you as this great storm approaches our shores.

Thanks again, Barbara
Jane

Hi Jane,
I emailed Michelle this morning. She is on a differnt Padre Island that is 250 miles away from the one of concern. She says she is safe.
