Shine on you Crazy Diamonds - A Note to the Lunatic Fringe

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? ..........as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Marianne Williamson

"All that I'm hearing from you is white noise, white noise" - The Living End

One of the most rewarding things I've done in the past year is to become a member of this community. There is such openness, empathy, support and spirit here. I have made friends never met; I have reveled in your sharing of wisdom; I have pondered your questions; I have been rewarded by your support and contributions to my journey.

This community is self-sustaining, bound together by a common need to explore alternative thought and models of understanding and as such has become tributary in which flows the same energy as that of the mainstream, but diverted, reinterpreted and (to my mind) filtered of many impurities. Whereas the great river runs deep and slow at times, whilst at others deluging over rapids and carving great canyons in the arid soil of our society, our babbling brook is shallow, clear and leaps over pebbles worn smooth by time, wind and water. Our voices, individual and collective are often drowned out or howled down by the mainstream who often regards us with skepticism and derision, if they regard us at all. As with all expansive or alternate thinkers we are generally regarded as the lunatic fringe. So we often secrete ourselves in enclaves of liked minded people and chat amongst ourselves – gentle folk involved in massaging each others’ intentions, theories, insights and beliefs.

I read recently that reading many offerings of alternative thought is like eating Fairy Floss – very sweet at first bite but ultimately so lacking in any substance or nutrition it is in the long term just sickly and unsatisfying. I quote from Lawrence Carson’s recent succinct and impassioned reply to Jeffery’s post on Debt Assets, “During the last few months I have not spent much time here on this site. I read so much "nicities" posted here and very little mention of all the crap we are swimming in.” Perhaps we are in danger of becoming nothing more than a mutual admiration society. Perhaps the views and philosophies expressed here so frail they will not bear the weight of close skeptical scrutiny (apart from Oprah’s). Do we have the faith and belief to parade our philosophies, methods and intentions in a hostile environment?

You see I believe many will soon need to hear the things we know for it seems storm clouds are gathering and it may soon be the waters of the great river will become fatally polluted by contaminants which have long lined its murkiest depths. When the people who have entrusted so much and bet their lives on the strength of “free markets” and capitalistic doctrine lose homes, livelihoods and self-respect because their legislators and financial gurus failed to provide sufficient fiduciary safeguards to stop them being fucked, raise their eyes from the rubble – who will look like the lunatics then? Where will they find hope? These people will need to know how to rebuild. These people will need to know about intent. These people will not need to be prostrating themselves before God seeking mercy and forgiveness. These people will need to be made aware of their brilliance and that they are powerful beyond measure.

Will they need to find us here, or will we be there embracing them? I repeat the beautiful Marianne’s words, “.....as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

Touch someone outside the circle everyday - be magnificent!

From my heart

Chris

In the end, the pessimists may turn out to have been right, but I'll have a heck of a lot more fun getting there! - Anon.

My stepdad used to complain, bemusedly, that Mom was a Polyanna, that she had no sense of just how cruel the world really was. Twenty one years ago, my standard cynical expression was 'If you're so darned happy, you obviously don't understand the situation!'

Last night, I celebrated 21 years since my last drink of alcohol. I am more like the kid I was before I took my first drink, than the person I was during the 36 years when I drank (to a huge, life threatening excess - I cast no aspersions toward 'normal drinkers').

Today, I find life is very good. I could look at the downside of things, like the VA Benefits folks refusing to allow my clain that looking at the fireball of an atomic bomb is the cause of the holes and scar tissue in my maculae - I choose to look instead at the wonderful support and care given me by the VA Healthcare folks (two different buereaucracies, folks!). I could say that the staph infection in my spine was due to failed infection control during the bone grafts that installed two titanium cages filled with bone chips in my cervical spine, and that was caused by improperly aimed radiation treatments for cancer of the tongue which was due to Agent Orange in VietNam ... But I choose instead to dwell on the wonderful attitudes of the healthcare professionals with whom I came in contact at each stage, and the instant understanding I got from those who made the trip to my bedside to learn how to use meditation to alleviate and heal ...

I could say that the paper loss of maybe a hundred thousand dollars that is presently apparent was caused by political collusion and greed, but I choose instead to look at the abundance of resources that are left to me and mine, more than we shall ever NEED, and the source of our ability to share with those who are truly in need.

Whenever I'm tempted to complain about this or that, my conditioning as a result of meditation training leads me to tick off the things on my Gratitude List, and that leads me back to a state of serenity.

Serenity is contagious. Good will triumph over evil (I define evil as the intent to cause harm to another, or to profit at the expense of another).

If I am in pain, my conditioning leads me (after a suitable period of insanity) to ask God to let me see and profit from the lesson I'm meant to learn from this process. So far, I believe S/He's been pretty responsive to this plea!

I do believe in the eventual ascendency of the Cultural Creatives, the truth in the idea that positive thinking will engender positive results, and the unity of All. And there is comfort in these beliefs.

Peace and Love

Nice work, compa! I'm already on the page for quite some time now. Started back in the day when I was at least in rare company if at all; back when guerilla ontology was a daily exercise for me. But that's not what I came to post. Don't have any time to go that route, gotta go to work and face the titanic wrestling match with the status quo, or "quo-s" actually.

"Fairy floss"? Dude, they clean their teeth with magick!!

Faerie only give what the receiver is ready to receive. Ni moi moi, ni tan tan. No more, no less. Those who gets floss do so because they are equipped as such, or willing to go only that far. It is a gift, and gifts that are used are allowed to be kept. Those that are spurned are taken back. Taken back.

The slivered smiling Cheshire Cat moon is perched up over the Sacred Mountain prior to sunrise. Quite a sight! I live in a town where "fringe" is in. That's the other status quo. Sigh. Gotta go. Up against a great challange today. Adversarial drudgery and here I am with a b-b-bubbling outlook looking in.

Aho!

Chris,
nice, real nice. "...if they regard us at all..." but how could they, we're the gorilla on the ball court in that Inattentional Blindness movie.
(I CHERISH the decline of the Roman Church, and it's Inquisitor Pope, that bunch gave The Fringe too much regard, back in the day. Open account, Fisherman!)
I'm walkin' tall, amigo, and pedaling proud, professing Lunacy high and low. I took five Mondays off starting last, and am going deep, dredging the channels of my soul, finding sunken treasure, and a lot of ballast. (Moon-day, the other White Light, polarized for your protection.)

Smelly work, but honest.

If my crap sinks me, I can't rescue anyone. Red Cross Lifesaving went deep, and I was young. It's still in there, but who knew the the water would be so deep, the Wave so high? Gulp!

I grok you, the Normals/Mundanes/Faithful Flock may freak if this wretched Tower of Deception falls too soon. Ah, if only more knew the ritual of Intentional Release, the Burning Man potlatch of collective illusions sacrificed for greater good.

I will be there, to hold the door, Janus, the One who Looks Both Ways. I see the beginnings, and the ends, the span between folded neatly for display. They that fall, some will be lifted, those that reach out with firm grip and able wit. Alas, some lack both, and begin again. No regrets.

The Game is on. I HAVE been practicing. Very few have noticed, and I sport no logos, carry only personal endorsements. (Stealthy, the Taoist Way, flow and go, keep a clean waveform, Surfer of the Zuvuya.)

If Reality is code, it can be hacked.

The distressed humans, just now discerning the vessal's list, recall that sickening crunch a while back, and some sphincters are spasming.
I will show, as time allows, the way to bend the waves, and step ashore. No luggage or carryons, period.

This wavetrain is bound for glory.

Hi Tink,
I don't understand the crap you just gave Chris. He made a lot of sense to me.

I do understand about the Heparin. I had researched it due to my husband's bout with blood clots. He received some other thing made from pork intestines. Lovely.

You bring up an interesting subject. I am the daughter of a woman who was given DES to prevent miscarriage of me. DES has caused a rare cancer in some of the daughters and breast cancer in the mothers, plus infertility and abnormal structure in daughters. This "medicine "was sold years after it was know to be ineffective.

My sister was given X-Ray treatment after the mumps to reduce swelling that refused to go away. She has suffered thyroid cancer, as a result...as have many others. She also has had breast cancer (non genetic, test has been done). This cancer is only now becoming associated with the X-Ray treatments that were given to some. The doctors in Raleigh cannot be found, nor can their names be found on any list. They don't seem to exist.

Your husband's defibrillator lead are defective. Why? Poor work ethic? Greed?

Ethics are sorely lacking, and have been for a long time. Stinks.

Heparin is made from pork intestines. So, now I am confused. At one point I think my husband got synthetic heparin. At another, prior to hernia surgery, I know he gave himself shots of lovelox. The info. that came with it said it was made from pork intestines. Nevertheless, the horrible reactions and even deaths that were caused by contamination were suffered by those who had IV administration of the drugs, not shots. He did not have IV administration.

Mary Jane, I am sorry you suffered such a tramatic event.

I am just coming off the ceiling. I have just been re-reading lots of great books. "The prophet", by Kahlil Gibran and "Circle of Stones" by Judith Duerk. It has been a quiet day and tomorrow will bring answers that I can sink my teeth into. I am still hoping for some firm ground to stand on.

"Circle of Stones" has reminded me of the beauty of kind words that flow from one woman to another.
The book keeps asking the question, "Would your life be different?" One passage in the book says:
"A place of women who could help you accept your fatigue and trust your limitations, and to know, in the dark of winter, that your energy would return, as surely as the spring.
Women who could help you learn to light a candle and wait. . ."

I know for sure now, the answer to the question in the book. The answer is yes, dear Barbara, my life will be different because you cared enough to say your kind words.

Love and Light to all,
As always,
Jane

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your stimulating post. A question you posed is of great interest to me. You asked, "Do we have the faith and belief to parade our philosophies, methods and intentions in a hostile environment?"

I for one have been not only parading but designing and facilitating transformational learning environments for health care, MBA programs, and Fortune 500 corporations since 1966. Some would consider them "hostile environments", for the most part I did not. I found them -- all the way from CEOs and presidents, vice-presidents, middle managers, first line supervisors, and workers -- mostly (98%) receptive as long as I integrated what they considered 'practical down to earth' leader-manager subjects, e.g. self-management, motivation, communications, leader-managership, teambuilding, objectives clarification, formulating plans, taking action to achieve plans, early problem detection, solving problems, progress review, and feedback with meditation (relaxation response), integrating dualities, using dreams for creative problem-solving, developing intuition, and the like.

I think that had I taught the latter subjects outside the context of the integral leader-manager process as a whole reception would have been relatively cool.

In addition, all my workshops were practical experiential simulations of intrapersonal, interpersonal, and task processes. In other words, there was virtually no lecture. In its place we walked through maps of consciousness together after which participants in small teams used the maps for working through issues from back on the job in the context of what we called the 'integral leader-manager process'. The vast majority reported they loved their transformational experiences!

You may be interested to know that, starting about three years ago, I began donating my 'well tried and seasoned' maps of consciousness and related transformational materials developed for my health care, academic, and business clients to SIA for whatever readers may want to do with them. Although I continue to hold the copyrights any SIA member may use them as they wish, providing, of course, they give due credit to the author.

You can find these transformational materials scattered through my various Blogs and Shares. I am continuing to gradually feed them into SIA as my time permits. For starters you may want to take a look at the following:

Does that feel better? With personal concern about sounding like Fairy
Floss, I think you just gave a "supercalafradulisticexpealadoceous" blog. Or, as we say in "White Noise" La la la la la la la. (Interpretation: "I'm OK, You're OK")

I am startled by your references to We and Them. I am the breach in the circle because as long as I think "Us", you can't pronounce the Declare circle closed. Don't be too sure that everyone wants to be your particular circle. Who are "They"? Everyone who doesn't blog or everyone who isn't in the circle? Who are "WE"? All IONS people or just "conforming and confirming" IONS people?

Many "circles" have thought they were filtering out inferior "impurities". Some times the tough pragmatic "circles" thought they would end up being the self proclaimed epitome, the models for humanity. They grind under the Fairy Floss and the White Noise and replace it with their own agendas. Can you think of any examples of what I am talking about? The New York Philharmonic took some Fairy Floss to Korea. Knocking down the Berlin Wall let a lot of Fairy Floss escape and pour into the streets of separatism.

I am "Us". All inclusive, non exclusive, never separate from the whole.

La la la la la la. Love and Light La la la...La la la
You should be able to understand at least a few words of White Noise. It is a good thing to know especially when you reach out to "them".

As always

Whatever I reply to your comment Mary Jane will appear defensive and I don't see I have said anything which should require it. I did want to let you know however that my note was not meant as a personal attack on you or anyone who blogs here, nor did I set out to trivialize what is said and exchanged here. As I wrote at the outset I find immense value in belonging and contributing here.

My reference to white noise related to how most alternative concepts are perceived and categorized in orthodox communities. The impurities I referenced related to refined and developed information and philosophies.

Thankyou for your frank response. I look forward to further mutually supportive discourse.

I sure as ---- don't feel like I have to choose what category I fall into on a blog. None of you are categorized in my mind. You are a wonderful conglomerate. To exclude one of you would be to exclude the correct total ingredient. To take lightly anything you write would be to dishonor your right to express yourself.

I am a fighter and I am not taking any crap for MY perspective. The motivations that create error are what I am mad as ---- about. I will not question what gave you your perspective but I didn't get mine by falling off of a cucumber vine. Never under estimate Fairy Floss and White Noise. We are the sunshine and the starshine, we are in the honey of the hive. Music, magic, love and laughter sometimes keeps the soul alive.

My problems are nothing compared to the havoc in the country. How I handle my problems isn't "nothing". I mentioned a current challenge in my life and I have edited it out because I just found that everything written here appears on Google. I am a very private person and will watch my candid remarks in future blogs. Thank you for your patience.

I love you all. Sometimes for reasons that I understand and sometimes for reasons that I don't. Once in a College Philosophy class, the Professor was giving a lecture on Platonic Love. He was explaining each category and he reached the explanation and definition of Agape. He said that the root word of this wonderful love was similar to "duty" or "in spite of" He said agape love is really "God like loving". I raised my hand and disagreed. The greatest love is to love "Because" and not "In spite of". He took a while to speak and then said, "If this was presented in the course as Logic I would give you an "A"." You see, I have already fought my battles. I love because.

I have beaten the odds before. I might just crawl out from under this and maybe it will pass me by.

I love you Jeff because you make me laugh out loud. Thanks for the memories. I have to go now.

Love and Light
