The flute music is beautiful. I have kept it on in the backround while I meditate, work at my computer and contemplate. Very calming.

I quite agree with the other comments on the music. It is a welcome peaceful presence when one is trying to finally bring the work week to a close at 3:00AM.

The flute music is very calming. Is it perhaps possible to download or purchase? Any information would be appreciated.

Assume you may have gotten information by now on music. If not, this music is Shakuhachi Meditation Music and I got my copy from Sounds True Catalog, which carries many CDs of this nature. Appears this chat area is pretty quite. Today is August 18, 2007. :)

I agree that the music is beautiful, hauntingly so. If I sit and listen long enough, perhaps I will be emboldened to put wise words on the screen for some passer by.

Shakuhachi Room

Hosted by James ODea

Weekly gathering time: Thursday, 6 pm Pacific

IONS President James O’Dea had the idea for the Shift in Action Modes (Discover, Declare, Share, Commune, Meet) on a plane ride to Brazil. That set in motion a flurry of ideation in developing the Shift in Action web community site - and in particular, the Commune function.

James envisioned a space where wisdom suggestions would cascade into view, inviting onlookers to relax, center, and explore personal and social transformation in the comfort of their homes or offices. The Shakuhachi Room is the first example of this idea -- a flute accompanies wisdom suggestions penned by James himself: Commune, Open your heart, Sense the presence of the other, Seek resonance, Be spacious...

We invite you to settle in with James’ suggestions as you would a meditation guide. When you’re finished, please tell us about your experience by commenting, or sharing, or declaring.

And remember, Commune is an evolving environment; suggestions are welcome, and in the future you will be able to pick from several kinds of rooms and even make your own with your music and pictures and words.
