Bob Johnston's Post

I had the most interesting dream this morning . . .

This morning? you may be asking. Yes, I'm one of those characters who likes to go to bed late and rise early so I take two ten-minute naps during the day, one after my ten o-clock morning snack and the other during late afternoon. So this morning after I posted my SIA blog titled "The Meaning of My Life" (see reference (1) below) I had a most interesting dream . . . at least interesting to me.

I dreamed of being deep within the earth under an unseen light source and looking from an angle at the huge root of what seemed must be a monstrous tree (like one of those huge Sequoias one can drive a car through). In the root there was a set of very large thick heavy oak double-doors with large shiny bronze handles . . . all very natural and rustic but somewhat expensive in appearance. The doors were closed but, of course, aroused my curiosity as to what I might find when and if I opened them.

OmniMind (OM) said, "Open the doors and you will find joy inside. Open the doors and you will find a great crowd of people who love you for what you are . . . pure clear timeless awareness at one with our Source of all life and with them."

I asked another question, "Who constructed the doors? They were clearly made by humans." "The hands who made those doors were clearly yours," said OM. "Oh come now, OM," I remonstrated,"I don't remember building those doors, besides I don't have the carpentry skills necessary to construct them." "A guy like you has many associates who have the skills to help you make doors such as these," said OM.

Then I spied a sign on the right-side door 'printed' in splotchy black and red ink which to me was unintelligible. OM told me "It says the doors are closed to anyone who cannot accept both health and disease as necessary concomitants [parallels] in life.

I responded, "That may true in general, but is it not true that I have selected the path of integral health, strength, and wellbeing and have experienced twelve and a half years of near perfect health? How do you reconcile that with your statement that health and disease are necessary concomitants in life?"

"Just what you said," replied OM,"of the two paths you selected a life of health and wellbeing and you are on that path forever if you want it." "Of course I want it!" I opened the doors and was met by a large of group of presumably healthy people who welcomed me with great rejoicing.

Behind the crowd I could see elevators enclosed in transparent glass carrying people up and down through the center of the gigantic tree. Intrigued I got on one of them and soon found myself enjoying the sights all the way from deep in the earth to the highest, deepest, and broadest realms beyond space and time and the Zero Point Field.

Finally I found I didn't need the elevators any more but just freely flew like one of those butterflies with diaphanous wings here, there, and wherever I wanted.

So let me ask you, astute reader, do you see any coherence between my earlier post and my dream? Yes? No? Somewhat? Why?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Healthy and merry be!

Bob

Neat dream Bob. Thanks for posting it.

Sure there is a great connection. Doesn't quantum physics support the spiritual dimension? Everything is everything.

We are all going to experience everything also. So be willing to take on the challenges of disease, healing and health. Don't we all die of something?

. . . good to hear from you again. Thank you for your interest and comments.

If I am accurately interpreting the various quantum physicists such as Nobel laureates Bohr, Heisenberg, and Feynman, about whom I recently wrote (see reference (1) below), they apparently reached a place in their explorations where mathematics and experiments could carry them no farther so they began exploring and even practicing various forms of spirituality. However, there are other quantum physicists I shall let remain anonymous, who for one reason or another cannot accept spirituality.

As to the hypothesis that "everything is everything" . . . that seems a common extrapolation but the challenge is we still don't know completely what "everything" is. I suppose once we know the "height, depth, and breadth of infinity" (which would make it finite, would it not?) we will be in a better position to get some reliable evidence to more or less support, refute, or at least intelligently modify "everything is everything".

As to being willing to take on the challenges of disease, fifteen years ago when early signs of many of the diseases traditionally associated with older age began showing up in my body I thought it was about ready for the crematorium. Then I discovered I had far more self-management control over my body's aging process than I had been taught to believe. In the 'olden days' we were taught that when we retired we could expect to get depressed, fall ill from one or more of the "diseases of old age" and die. There was nothing we could do about it, it was inexorably fixed.

Research at Tufts, Harvard, Stanford and other institutions over the past twenty years or so shows that doesn't need to be . . . we have far more control over our deterioration from aging than a lot of people know (and perhaps some people want to know).

While I don't fear of death of my body I have seen enough relatives and friends languish in nursing homes to know that I don't want to painfully vegetate in one of those places of torture for possibly years before death finally comes.

So I spent three years researching and experimenting with various ways of living healthfully in older age and came up with the Integral Healthful Aging system I described in another SIA post (see reference (2) below). In that document I have shared what works for me but I don't claim to know what will work for you or others. I share my system for those people who may want to look it over for ideas that may be of use to them.

So, yes, we can be sure all temporal bodies die of something. I hope to die from just wearing out and quickly, say from heart failure, not from some lingering disease . . . so far so good. . .

Yours in conscious Oneness with our common, infinite, intercommunicating Source Consciousness; empathy; integral health; probabilistic scientific-intuition-based evidence; evolving new options; and joy!

Hi Bob,
Nice to hear some of your background experience also. I feel you have a very powerful mind and you keep yourself in good shape and health because of it, as witnessed by all the detailed information you share on this website. (Do you blog anywhere else?) Have you explained this anywhere yet? It would be very helpful for others. Maybe you don't realize the significance of this?

Could you provide that link again , please?

thanks filip

. . . Filip, I see I forgot to list the two links I referred to in my earlier response to you. Here they are:

(1) Nobel Prize Winners in Quantum Physics Who Were Mystics http://www.shiftinaction.com/node/9159

(2) Consciousness Cruise Handouts: Integral Noetic Options For Healthful Aging Workshop

As to your question about blogging anywhere else . . . SIA is the only site where I blog. Having been a longtime member of IONS when I retired I decided to donate all the integral maps of integral consciousness I had developed since 1966 for my intensive leader-manager workshops, conflict management laboratories, and MBA courses to SIA. If you want to see a list of all my blogs on SIA all you need do is click on my name at the top of this post and it will take you to my personal/professional page where you can click on "blog" . . . that will get you the list.

Of course I'll be glad to discuss any of my blogs with you as you wish.

Thank you for your interest.

Healthy and merry be!

Bob
