Synesthesia and a Shift in Consciousness?
After listening to the 6/20 episode of "All in the Mind" podcast from down under, featuring an interview with David Eagleman, novelist and researcher in neurology, I had a novel thought myself.
Really.
Stephen "Ninja" Dinan Needs a Sponsor for the Voice Of America internet radio show.
I listen to Stephen's Voice or America yesterday and what a great show! Swami Beyondanada was just great as so eloquently summed up the situation of America and the world today and gave great counsel as to why we shouldn't panic. It is shorter than an hour and highly recommended.
New Consciousness Paradigms in Narrative Nonfiction
To members related to the narrative nonfiction field (including Literary Journalism, Literature of Reality, Creative Nonfiction): let´s share some ideas and info on bringing new paradigms (those very familiar to us all at IONS)into this territory.
I had the most interesting dream this morning . . .
This morning? you may be asking. Yes, I'm one of those characters who likes to go to bed late and rise early so I take two ten-minute naps during the day, one after my ten o-clock morning snack and the other during late afternoon. So this morning after I posted my SIA blog titled "The Meaning of My Life" (see reference (1) below) I had a most interesting dream . . . at least interesting to me.
BLOG: "Summer Gratitude as Everything Shifts."
From http://www.michaelpicucciblog.net :
On page 19 of my book Ritual As Resource I shared my “Mary Ritual” as the book’s first example of bringing “resource” to an opposite energy (or experience). I described her then (and still do) as: “a friend I’ve known and loved for over twenty years. More pertinent is that I know and deeply feel that Mary loves me unconditionally: In her eyes, I can do absolutely nothing wrong. It’s like having the perfect protective encapsulation of love.” Since my last blog, I’ve been witnessing and experiencing Mary’s last days on the physical plane as a true Earth Mother. Equally challenging is watching my best friend John courageously show-up as her primary care-partner. Additionally, aside from the complex tragedies abounding everywhere, my dear niece and goddaughter is undergoing breast cancer treatment and a bevy of other tough life challenges. Mary, John and Deb inspire me. None of them are complaining. In the best ways possible, they express gratitude in their words and demeanor.
I Scare Myself
The title of this blog alludes to the song by the same title from Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks. You will find mention of that farther down in this reposted blog. I reposted this up front on the Declare page because it is a sharing of some of the inner work I have done while being intertwined here. The post was in reply to Barbara's generous reply to my bad mood post of Saturday morning, in the Tending the Corn blog. I felt anger. Imagine that.
The Meaning of My Life
There's nothing wrong with searching for happiness, but I have on occasion used the word happiness in a way which makes it sound as if it were the very ultimate in human intention. I have discovered what gives me far greater comfort and confidence is consciously realizing my inherent Oneness with the timeless, all-pervading, infinite, 'oceanic presence' of our Mystery Source, and consequently, my basic interdependent oneness and empathy with every other entity, carnate and discarnate.
Amazing commentary on Africa
I was listening to NPR the other day and, of course, they gave a program over to speaking with folks who knew Michael Jackson. One of the guests was a woman in Africa who spoke about the first time The Jackson Five visited. I found one of her comments very striking. She was giving accolades to Michael’s talent and how impressed the people there were with it. Then she said, “And this comes from a continent of people who sing and dance….and do them very well.”
A Couple More Book Reviews
A couple of books I recently found interesting, for quite different reasons…
Carl Sagan’s 1977 The Dragons of Eden -- speculations about the evolution of human intelligence over eons, and
Michael Kilday’s 2009 Truth Never Changes: Earth Changes -- speculations about dramatic shifts in the world in the next few years.
Taking a Break
Hi,
I'm taking a break. Most likely, I won't even be checking in to see what's going on. If you want me to see anything, you'll have to email me. Have a great summer.
Barbara
